I recently bought a Starboard Ace GT and i'm wanting to get a board bag for it. I've got quotes from a few local suppliers for a custom order and am happy to proceed with them. I know that Starboard make one themselves but unfortunately they don't import the board bags at the moment, so having said that, does anyone know of any reputable Starboard retailers O/S that i could ask the all important cost question of?
I suspect it'll be hugely more expensive due to the Pacific Peso at the moment but due diligence and all...
cheers

By all means, get the quote but just a warning (and this coming from a longtime Starboard pimp and fanboi) those Starboard board bags are quite heavy. The 14' Ace board bag was almost unusable, so the GT would be a real back breaker with a heavy bag. For an unlimited board, I would definitely advise a locally made custom bag, with highest consideration given to keeping the weight right down. I doubt you will be wanting to use it as a protective freight bag for sending on airlines (unless you are flying on an Antonov to Moscow) so you don't need it to be super heavy duty and thickly padded as the Starboard bags tend to be.

Good point PTWoody! I've also got a Glide GS with a Flying Objects bag that nudges 25kg when fully laden…that sucks trying to get it on the roof racks!!!
And you're right, it's more for storage duties once a week rather than International travel per se. Thanks for your advice.

Surf Aids at Byron Bay do great customs for boards that the stock bags don't fit so well.
