Hi DJ,

How long do u usually paddle for?

Do u go to the same spot all the time or try and find new spots?

Cuz when the surfs **** me and my dad usually go up through the canals and explore which is pretty fun.

Ohh and btw do u still wear ur crocs since ur got grip now?

For my daily paddle I usually start about 10-10.30am (after peak hour traffic)..and paddle till about 1.30 and just get home in time to go to work.

I tend to go to the same spot..only because it's the closest and I like to catch up with these old guys that spend every day at St Kilda pier..They are real characters..but more and more I'm finding different spots for when the conditions are not good for St Kilda beach.

I find that Mentone is great on northerlies..Sandy is good on westerlies..and St Kilda good on southerlies.

I have had car problems for a long time now and that has made it hard to travel too far..I'm just about to buy a new car and can't wait to start checking out more coast beaches..They are at least an hour away.

I'm glad to hear that you also like a bit of flat water..exploring canals and rivers can be fun for sure.

About the crocs.....No..I don't wear them much now that I have my deck pads on..but sometimes I have to carry my board a fair way across roads etc and I'm not a good bare foot person..and once I'm there I have to wear them..or stick em in a back pack or something.

I also wear them at Mentone beach because it shallow water and very rocky..also when on the Yarra river..Cos you just don't know what's down there..

Rocks at Mentone beach? Where do you paddle at Mentone to find rocks?

Mentone it'self is ok..nuthin' but sand there..

I paddle from Mentone up to Rickets point..past the Bomoris boat ramp..The cliffs give great protection from the north wind..and it's shallow and rocky.

Here's some pics... www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=36165

All's cool guys..I'm sure Brooko and Ben dover are both typing with a big smile..I know I am..

Revvin, Oliver and I had a great day today.

Revvin tryed my 11'6" and also my 10'6" Naish.

Oliver caught his first fish while SUP'ing.

We had great weather..JD..You missed a good one...The wind dropped off..The sun came out.

I took some pictures that turned out pretty good..I know Oliver would love me to post a pic of his fish that he caught...(it's H U G E)..

One good thing about paddling at Sandringham beach is that I didn't need to wear my crocs....Oooh that bare foot feeling feels good..

I'm just about to go to see the Iron Man movie..So later on I'll post them...Thanks guys for a great day.

Here's my pictures from todays paddle...and you surfer dudes that get to SUP in the real stuff..exit now...cos you'll find this all too boring...

Here is Revvin and Oliver about to head off...Check out the great weather...well great for Melbourne..

Note Oliver with his great new Werner 'Spanker' paddle....Mmmmmmm...it was very nice..

Here's some pics of Olivers fishing set up....Cool or what..

Revvin...Hope you don't mind me showing this unfaltering pic of you finding out the the Naish 11'6" and 11'6" are like chalk and cheese..The smaller board is much more tippy and not that floaty for a big guy...It keeps you on you toes that's for sure.

The bigger 11'6" is the great allrounder..imo....Here's Revvin with the 11'6"..and lookin' cool.

We saw these guys sharing a demo windsurfer..It looks a bit boring in the light wind..so I offered them a go on my board..They'd been watching us and seeing all the fun we were having and jumped at the opportunity.

When they realized that you could also put a sail on it I don't think they'll be buying that windsurfer...They both loved the SUP.

Anyway....I'm sure you want to see the big fish that Oliver caught...Does he look happy or what..

I thought if I get closer it might look bigger...

I would have left it on the line and used it for bait for a really big snapper...

It was a great day...and not one wave..

DJ

Oh yeah..Iron Man was pretty good.

btw..If you go to see it don't leave at the end..Wait till the credits have finnished because there's more movie after the credits end.

Nope dont mind,

I'm happy to admit I took a swim, the 10'6" is certainly not a beginner board for bigger guys, I'll even admit I took a swim on the 11'6" coz of the chop ,

Thanks for a fun morning DJ and Oliver and thanks for trusting a kook with your gear. Even I can see that Oliver's new Werner is a sweet paddle.

It was a great day, I love my new werner paddle and was wrapped about my big fish that I caught on a lure. The company is always great - we had lots of laughs.

Unfortunately, my wife wasn't as impressed as I was with my paddle and decided to throw it at a pile of rocks when I told her how much it cost. It's a super light paddle that's also super tough and survived the unprovoked attack.

It's a pitty that I didn't take a shot of DJ's feet. I think after the events of last week he is now too hurt to wear crocs on his board. I found it kind of funny paddling around the bay in Melbourne talking about Ben Dover.
