I love the comradery of fellow surfers in the quieter winter months.
Sounds like an ideal time to be involved in SUP sport.
Your uncrowded freedom is probably what surfers in the 60's/70's experienced.
Give it 5 years and there may well be another 45+ SUP riders out there!
All competing for a sniff of a wave. I wonder if you would still be as friendly?
Unfortunately as it gets crowded I doubt you would be giving fellow SUP'ers the heads up on where to go.
yeah, it was a little better in the 70's, Elroy (for crowds), but popular places like Triggs Pt (in Perth) & Margaret river mainbreak have been pretty crowded for as long as I can remember. Did you see the Bombora doco this week with 15 guys on a wave together on their fin-less 14' planks in the 50's/60's?! The aggro is incredibly annoying, it's only a bloody wave (wait for the howls!), & makes many of us retreat to uncharted waters, snowfields & golf courses, but you're right, the camaraderie (so far) has been unreal, & we're all loving it, but I give it 2 years, not 5, for the numbers to quintuple.
