Just letting anyone interested know that the river mouth of Mooloolaba is going off this week end. Ultra long rides with clean large face on waves. Three to four sections working. Bring a strong leg rope as mine and 4 others sups have broken theirs in the last 2 days. Long swim follows broken leggy.

The swell is meant to lift and hopefully the wind doesn't come with it. Best option would be Saturday morning with the incoming tide. You will need to paddle out the river from the Buddina side as the Mooloolaba Triathlon is on and the roads on that side will be closed.

Hope to see a few out there. They may look large but they are friendly waves. Easy paddle back on either side of the bommy section.

Also sellin 9'8" Uberfish in the Buy and Sell section for anyone interested. The board is in excellent condition.

Well the swell dropped some and waves were slightly full with the wind coming on. Not as great as yesterday but a lot of fun. There were 5 SUPs out.

Some of the sets presented well and on one wave 3 of us shared the same cheering each other on. Each ensured the other had space. Would have made a great photo.

The SUP community seems real friendly the way surfing should be.

Hoping the wind backs off a bit for the low tide!!!!!

I love the comradery of fellow surfers in the quieter winter months.

Sounds like an ideal time to be involved in SUP sport.
Your uncrowded freedom is probably what surfers in the 60's/70's experienced.

Give it 5 years and there may well be another 45+ SUP riders out there!
All competing for a sniff of a wave. I wonder if you would still be as friendly?

Unfortunately as it gets crowded I doubt you would be giving fellow SUP'ers the heads up on where to go.

yeah, it was a little better in the 70's, Elroy (for crowds), but popular places like Triggs Pt (in Perth) & Margaret river mainbreak have been pretty crowded for as long as I can remember. Did you see the Bombora doco this week with 15 guys on a wave together on their fin-less 14' planks in the 50's/60's?! The aggro is incredibly annoying, it's only a bloody wave (wait for the howls!), & makes many of us retreat to uncharted waters, snowfields & golf courses, but you're right, the camaraderie (so far) has been unreal, & we're all loving it, but I give it 2 years, not 5, for the numbers to quintuple.
