This coming Sunday we will be running a demo day to assist fundraising for Mark Yazbeck who is taking on this year's 111km Hawkesbury Canoe Classic charity paddle.

Mark is a well known big wave surfer/SUP rider from Victoria who recently relocated back home to Newcastle for personal reasons, those of which have given him a special purpose to paddle and complete the 111km journey.

C4 Waterman have stepped in to assist Mark by providing the minimum fundraising amount to enter, the use of a board and overnight landcrew support.

We will have the following boards available for demo:
?9'0 Batwing
?9'3 Sub Vector
?9'6 Sub Vector
?9'9 Slingblade
?10'0 Sub Vector
?10'0 Pohaku
?10'6 Pohaku
?11'0 Da Mooch
?11'6 Standem
?12'0 HoloHolo
?14'0 Vortice XP
?19'0 Penetrator
?19'0 Exploramaran

To participate in the day all you have to do is purchase a $2 raffle ticket organised by the HCC.

Prizes are as follows:
1st - $2500 worth of travel
2nd - 4 Day Houseboat cruise on the Hawkesbury
3rd - $500 worth of Bunnings vouchers
The raffle will be drawn 3pm Saturday 24th October 2009 and the results published in the SMH on Wednesday 28th October 2009.

For Seabreeze users who would like to donate but cannot make it on the day donations can be direct to the HCC website here > www.canoeclassic.asn.au/my/races/profile-public?rid=5301
Leave your Seabreeze login name in the comments field and you will go in the draw to win a brand new C4 Waterman HD paddle. The winner will be drawn by Mark just before he starts.

All monies raised by the demo day, Mark and all paddlers in the HCC paddle go to The Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation. www.arrow.org.au

The demo day will be either held at Belmont Foreshore or Dixon Park Beach depending on weather conditions.

Location updates can be found here> http://newcastlesup.com.au/website/index.php?view=details&id=1%3Anewcastle-sup-demo-day&option=com_eventlist&Itemid=56

Thanks to Stuart Murrey from SUPLove who pioneered the paddle last year for the advice and assistance given to Mark and the landcrew.

Hope to see you all there

I'll donate.. It's a good cause.. but it's a shame that tthey don't have PayPall set up on their site for easy payment rather than doing the whole credit card thing.

Boylos - I did enter and was going to paddle but we lost some of the landcrew so we are throwing all our support behind Mark.

Thanks for the support DJ.

Update on fundraising > All up including online donations, sales of raffle tickets and the demo day we are just about to click over the $1000 mark. A big effort by all!

The charity paddle is on tomorrow and this is your last chance to help a good cause and be in the running to win.

All allocated raffle tickets have sold but donations made online for the next 24hours will still go in the draw to win a C4 Waterman HD paddle valued at $495!

P.S A pair of GLOBE sandals were left behind after the demo day, if you think they are yours then give me a call.
