Enjoyed it but............ I think the saying goes "Don't quit your day job!!!"

It was a Starboard 10'5", a bit tippy for a first time board with a little shorebreak, eventually found some flatter water and got going, wasn't upright enough and got a sore back.

However, I saw and felt the potential.

Maybe I need a 12 footer?

How much do they go for second hand?

hang in there, keep a good upper body shape, shoulder back but relaxed and let the legs do the talking, also keep your hips square to the board until you are surfing a wave. most of all have funnnnnn

I agree hang in there I didnt catch a wave for a long time initially.

Make sure your paddle is approx 8 inches longer than you height for the surf or you will be hunched when paddling.

Some people get sold paddles way way tooo short!

it's better to start with a board thats a bit of a challenge, so you dont outgrow it too quickley.

Hearing lots of good stuff about the 10'5., you will sort the tippyness thing out very quickly, especially on a 30" wide board.

Hi hardie, my first board is a 11,2 starboard. Do wish i went smaller now. starboard Drive 10.5 x 30 ( i think thats it's name ). Nice board, had ago. if i had the cash i'd get one, or smaller.
