Join me for about five minutes of yesterdays down-winder and watch as I try to chase down Mick and Jonathan.

There wasn't much wind but just enough to get runners.. Put the headphones on and crank up the sound.

I was having trouble getting used to that version of the song though.

The AC/DC version is one of my all time favourites and I couldnt work out if this was artistic impression or sacrilege...... Hahaha.

I love the vid though, effortless speed in passing the other guys although it looked like they werent really paddling. Was that for the vid?

Yeah it's an interesting version isn't it (Hells Bells).. and No.. I wasn't doing anything different for the vid.. I find myself paddling less and less these days and going just as fast and enjoying it more.. It was Mick's second time on the Naish Glide and he's not really used to it yet (he has a new DC16 on order) and the only reason I caught Jonathan was because he was waiting so he didn't get too far ahead of Mick.. It's always nice to try and keep together.. The 14' Glide glides on next to nothing.

I like the bit at the 2.15 mark where I give the thumbs up because I know I'm about to get a good runner because you can see it coming ahead.. and other than the odd pat, pat with the paddle it just takes on good dig at the right moment and you're off.

I was just going to pick the good bits out and put them all together and there were some great runners where I was right on the tail of the board and flying but showing what I showed in one chunk with nothing edited shows what it's really like.. Putting all the fast bits together can be a bit misleading even if more exciting to watch.

Jonathan's new 14' Starboard arrives today.. I'm looking forward to that.. I'll takes some pics..

Cool vid. Getting even more tempted to give a DW a crack sometime soon.

Must say though that I would find it hard not to push people off as I sailed past them on a runner! How do you hold yourself back? ha ha ha

Because what goes around....comes around also it was bloody freezing that day, even in a wetsuit you really don't want to fall in if you can help it!

Give the DW a go Ted, certainly a bit of a learning curve to make it as effortless as it seemed in the vid but just so rewarding and fun. That was a magic morning, tiny swell but I swear we were heading down-hill! Seemed like the water was frictionless and often one correctly timed small stroke would get you onto the wave. Nice vid DJ, thanks!
