Hey DJ,

Unfortunately I fly back on Friday.

The new boards are excellent! We don't have any surf on Maui at the moment but I have done some nice downwinders. And yes I got to use the 12"er, very nice. It is going to be such a good class, as it is not stupidly faster than say an 11'6" (but it is faster), but it just glides a lot better, and you get much longer runs. It will pretty much stay on swells and chop for as long as you want with very little paddle input needed.

The big benefit is staying under 12' is general public and begginners will be able to compete in this class with their 11'6" boards and not get totally left for dead. There for making more numbers and better events, I think this whole 14 - 16' board thing is crazy, some of the boards you see here on Maui are massive and are so much hassle. 12' class is awesome. I have some images that I can post when I get back, the internet here isn't very fast and drops out every 5 minutes, so not good for pictures.

I will fill you all in more next week,

regards,

JB

I got to know Robby quite well and a couple of times he even borrowed my surfboard so he could go for a surf while at Long Reef..He's a very nice guy.

I also got to know his brother Randy even better..Randy's a bit of a dark sheep in the Naish family..Also a very nice guy..and a bit of a party animal...

The board Kai is riding is an 8'4" (scaled from the new 9'3"). The board is insane.
