Hey Kent.. this was 'you today' using my old carbon white 14' Glide.

The vid only shows the first 10-15 min [about up to Elwood] because you chased down the others and I was hanging back with the girls..

The waves were just start to build at that point

Thanks for coming to the rescue at the end when I was hit with a huge gust when exiting the water.

Great video DJ.....board looks great on the water, you looked so comfortable.

Anyone who's been caught by a squall knows that feeling at the end - great save !

At 5.49 a girl jumped off the bridge, was she saving a board from blowing away or being swept off by the wind.

Naish have not yet made the new 29" wide shape yet in the GS versions.. They are due in a couple of weeks.. This is the old (current) 27" wide shape but in the new colours and graphics.. I love the look of the new yellow on the water.

Yes Chris.. That's a bad feeling when the wind catches your board.. I think wind hitting the big camera rig lifted the nose allowing the wind to get under the board.. It feels like once it starts to go there's no stopping it.. The wind seems to funnel through spots there and you really need two people per board.. I'm not sure about the kids jumping off the pier but the wind was strong enough to blow small children down the beach..

Good one DJ, not only do you provide the board, paddle and leash but you film the run and edit out the bits where I fall in as well, top work.

As you said that was at the start and the waves were just starting to build, towards the end of the run it just got better.
I think the wind had picked up, I was starting to get the hang of the board and moving around more and there was a shallow section around that last point where the windsurfers were that one runner just stood up and kept going for ages.

Nice save at the end, I hadn't seen that at the time, when I came around the corner you said you had been cartwheeling down the beach, I see what you mean now.

I hope I can make it back there again one day but it's time to jump on a plane and head home, could be an interesting flight the Faulkner Beacon and St Kilda graphs show the wind gusting up to around 60knots overnight.

I see... thats why some brissy peeps are stilllll waiting for their new glides.. so they are making and selling the 2013 model in new colours in shops? is this a cheaper option than the 2014? I too think the board looks unreal in those colours!

Hey DJ what was the camera set up for that vid? Is it placed on an angle off the board? Looks fun, only new to SUP and never really seen what a downwinders looks like
