Has anyone tried paddling at hinze dam since they opened it. A couple of us are doing a paddle 530 tomorrow morning from the dam wall we will be leaving seems the best spot to paddle with the amount of crap in the rivers and sh-tty ocean conditions

when you say since they opened it, do you mean finish stage 3/raise dam wall? I thought they werent going to allow on water activites untill 80% full or something like that??? I could be wrong though.....btw keep you head out of the water

Works were completed last year and the recreational areas officially reopened to the public on 19 December 2011.
Looks like its not at 80% capacity yet, but it was 69.5% this morning and considering the water level jumped by 2m during the day today I think it will be somewhere around 75-80% by now.
Good thing they finished raising the wall last year or we would have a whole lot more water causing flooding in the lower Nerang River right now.

Ok its a bit under 2m but still about 1.6m for the day and a massive 7.18m since Monday. Here are the levels relative to full storage.
12:23am Monday -13.24m
12:04am Tuesday -13.16m
12:06am Wednesday -11.60m
12:09am Thursday -8.02m
12:00am Friday -7.64m
9:39pm Friday -6.06m

Good idea for you guys who are planning to paddle tomorrow. Another few days of rain and the dam will be full and you could get washed over the spillway :-)
