Hi, Any suggestions on a holiday destination for self and non SUP'ing wife for 4-5 days anywhere in mid september. Would love small waves with easy access and accomodation and flights not overly expensive. Is there an SUP camp somewhere. I'm 57 and not keen on battling young gun surfers or gnarly waves. Somewhere with cultural interest and laid back locals would be nice. Thanx!
Have you considered Jervis Bay, not far from Sydney nice little cafe culture in huskisson plus whale and dolphin cruises great SUP action with an awesome crew of locals.
Bundeena - the locals are friendly the grommet in the bay is 40ish and there's some nice little runners and you are a ferry and train from all of sydneys attractions
Merimbula? Might be a litte chilly in Sept but the lakes are brilliant for flatwater paddling and the rivermouth has a nice small, easy wave. Easy access to both if you stay on the fishpen. You might even get the nonSUP Mrs out on the lake...and the local oysters are bloody good.
Give yourself and your wife a treat and go to Hawaii, but stay a little longer - make a real holiday out of it.
Remember years ago all those loud Americans holidaying in Australia telling us how cheap everything is. Let me tell you the shoe is on the other foot now. Go over there and run a muck - your non supping wife will love it - the shopping is fantastic - all women love shopping - and you will find a sup on every corner for hire.
