Grab a Jeep & take a tent, and stay for free out at Polihale Beach. End of the road, out on the West Side.

South side is very commercialised with all the big hotels the north is a lot more small townish. When I was there in 07 it was the first time in all my travels I din't book accommodation before I left and took a punt. Result: ended up driving around for 5 hours trying to find somewhere.

There is a place in Hanalei Bay that does awesome fish tacos (the food kind).

Piros,we were struggling to find the right place to stay for the family of five and after visiting travel forums we decided on the Princeville.Everyone was saying pay the extra 100 per night instead of the Sheraton down south,so we did.We hired a car and drove around the Island and I can tell you we made the right choice.Be warned its super expensive, but wtf.Kauai is such a wonderful Island,so relaxed compared to the others and the scenery AMAZING.Load that camera Rob,your going to get the best photos EVER.

Hey Rob,
Maybe stay a few nights at Princeville and a few at the Marriott.
Depends on how many nights your on Kauai I guess?

Princeville is good as said. Right at Hanalei Bay which is a super cool place and
the wave can be awesome off the point there. Deep water in the middle, makes it easy to get out when its big. You can see Puff the Magic Dragon there too!!!!!

The Marriott is not far from the Airport and is in its own little Bay/Cove.
The swell comes into the cove and makes a super fun wave mainly on the public side of the cove. You would have a field day with your camera from your balcony of your room!!!!!
I have a few paddling contacts on Kauai if you need to know more....
Rowdy.
PS...will I fit in your suit case???

Those Fish Taco's are amazing not sure if is tuesday or thursday night though,I went every week for months, Can't really help with accomodation as i've always stayed with a mate there,Princeville is a very white American Resort style setup, You could check Kilauea 10-15mins east of Hanaleii,Be cheaper than staying up at the Bay.

Cheers guys, I think super cheap may not be the way to go....its the honeymoon and the new wifey would murder me if she couldnt get room service. On a happy note she wants me to take a couple of boards and told me that I should buy a new kite while I'm over there!! We are staying down in Poipu. a few mates said that the surf down there is good in the summer months.
