Hey LSD, just a couple of questions about the yellow board. I know you use lite grade eps but what thickness board do you start with? And the width of that board , I remember it being about 30" wide, what about the length of your boards to their width . So what I'm asking is could you see a 6'10 x 36 wide board ? or do you think there's a limit to the width in terms of how it will surf?
The sheet thickness is 100mm, the width is 30 1/2"....I think.
Length is 8' 2", the reason for this is that it's the max I can get out of a standard metric sheet with out joining. The first short board was 7' 10" from imperial sheet 8x4, & for me it was too short & too fat in the tail.
To answer your question about 6' 10" x 36"..... I dont think it would be usable as a fun board for the masses. It could be surfed, but what a dog it would be to paddle!
I have no desire to go smaller, what I have now is it for me......I think.
From time to time I will go back to a past favorite board (& new production stuff)just to compare & see that I am not just adapting to a new board, I am still amazed at the difference, thats why I am on about this light weight stuff, my shape is nothing ground breaking, its the light weight that makes them so much fun & fast.
Could you imagine trying to paddle this in a lineup!!
You may laugh but the Gong crew are very advanced
