In the process of making new board at the moment and I want to add a pinstripe to the design of the board. Has anyone got any tips on how to do it properly.

Clarky.

Go to a surf or Auto supplies and buy some stringer or pinline tape of the same thickness as the line you wish to paint.

Place it where you want it. Now get Masking tape and run it along both edges of the pinline tape. Also make sure you use paper on the second run to avoid overspray.

When that is neat, pull the pinline tape off the board and there is your line to paint in the middle of the 2 bits of mask. The hard part is getting them straight and there is nosubstitute for experience on this. I have seen pro's the freehand tape the neatest lines.

if you do you tape work with masking tape you will get fuzzy edges ,you need to ues fine line tape first ,its not to hard to tape up by eye ,you need to work with a few feet of tape unrolled so you can see the line better .if you are using a dark coulor line make your self a pencel guage .a pice of off cut foam with a 5 inch right angel cut in it .work out where you wont your pin line to run ,hold the foam so it runs hard on the rail push the pencial thru the foam where you want the pin line and scribe it around the board ,you can now tape it up free hand .best line are done in resin with pigment ,

if its a eps blank you would have to use water base paint for the stripe.or the paint will eat your blank .if you do use water base paint on eps foam its very very hard to get sharp clean lines with tape ,so you are better glasing the board, base up your laps give a good sand so you dont have to sand to much of your fill coat ,then do you pin stripes with either resin or paint .

these were done with a can of black spray paint .resin will give a thicker build and you have to take more care when sanding .
