If anyone ever says there's no young people getting into SUP, show em this...

200 kids rocked up for Kai Lenny's kids-only paddle clinic/SUP race yesterday. It was held at Hood River, Oregon (in the lead-up to this weekend's massive Gorge Paddle Challenge event) and featured a bunch of other Naish pros as well (such as Chuck Patterson).

Awesome to see this many kids keen to have a race.

Bit more info here... www.supracer.com/kai-lenny-grom-sup/

Pics tell the story though:

The other cool thing is that if you have a spare longboard (as a lot of sup riders do) then you can have your youngsters paddling around on that.
Just need an adjustable paddle or if they are small enough a canoe paddle.
Cheap and cheerful.
Have a go at the kids in the above photos...they aren't exactly sinking those boards which led me to have my daughter try paddling a 10' hp longboard I have.
She found it no drama at all on the river.

Very cool. My boy really looks up to Kai.
Rumour has it he is coming to OZ. Would love to see him run a kids (big kids) clinic in Sydney...

My Daughter Cambell paddled in the Cottesloe to Swanbourne race back in Feb & loved it. She was the youngest compeditor @10 & loved it! she got her face in the paper as well.
