While in my local SUP store yesterday (RPS) I saw some very new boards from Global Surf Industries.. This is the first anyone has seen these new boards (world wide) and they should be available soon.. They are a part of a new range called Adventure Paddleboarding and there is a huge range that for the first time covers children.. These are just two of the Allrounder shapes and they also have a range of flat water pointy nose boards.. These boards go down to 7' in length.. even the flat water boards.. Perfect for children.. This little green board is 7' x 27" and 92ltrs.. and retail for $845.. The 9'8" is under $1000 and the 11' flat water board that I saw was under $1300... Pretty good prices I thought.. I liked the tie down points on the deck and they felt pretty light.. They also looked very durable.. It will be interesting to see how these boards perform.

Just heard there will be lots of these boards down at Sandringham Yacht Club on March 16th - day of the Mad Paddle for kids to try out.

Great to see more kids boards available. Always thought that my young kids struggled on the wider (28"+) boards with their limited reach - all they end up doing is sweeping the whole time and going in circles.

Unfortunately won't be there at the Mad Paddle though :(

Don't know about kids having all the fun, I wouldn't mind having a go on the 7' myself
GSI seemed to sit on their hands for a few years and just rely on the old NSP boards that a lot of us got first up, but lately they have been bringing out some new stuff, I just got my self one of the DC/NSP 12'6" coco boards and am loving it, haven't had a lot of water time on it so far, but really looking forward to spending some more time on it.

Hi RR,

GSI has been a bit slow off the mark as far as range development goes and we have relied on technology rather than shapes. The introduction of the Cocomat and Elements ranges was great for the person who wanted a light weight board and the person who wanted an economically priced board. We are now going into a new phase with constant development from our R & D team. The Adventure Paddleboarding range is designed to meet the needs of the SUP entrant no matter what their age. At the other end, as you have pointed out, the NSP/DC race program is world class. Travis & Terene are all riding production boards that everyone can buy. I think that is pretty cool.

We have also just updated our range of Trident Paddles. The new range is streets ahead of the last range and I would be happy to say some of the best looking paddles on the market. They arrive in April.

Thanks

Yeah saw a couple of examples on these down at CORE on Monday, really good looking shapes and the finish/build quality looks excellent, not a ripple anywhere on the ones I saw.
