Here's another use for sup boards.. It's nice little vid over on the StandUpPaddleSurf site.

They're using sup board to get wounded soldiers out in the waves for a surf session.

Worth a watch if not just for the glimpse of the pink bikini at the 4.25 mark.. and the guy surfing with a missing foot was pretty cool at the 1.21 mark.

That vid was very moving. I'm sure they had a great day and enjoyed the stoke!

The guy on 1 leg reminded me of a guy I saw surfing the Apollo Bay breakwall in about 1967. He had only one leg and no prosthetic. It was back in days of longboards only. He would take off and hop to the front of the board for a nose ride. He was having a ball. Inspirational!
