After a half an hour test ride on the bay this week, I bit the bullet and bought my first board. (9'6" custom sup)
The next morning the forecast was 1-2ft and offshore, so I took it surfing for a couple of hours...

I haven't felt like such a kook for years, but I still had a great time! I eventually managed to catch a dozen waves or so, and now I am totally hooked. I feel like a grommet again - frothing for the next session.

Getting heckled by a few guys in the car park (about SUP), didn't even take the shine off it... It was a bit of a surprise though.
(I think I caught more waves than they did anyway, since the surf was getting full on the higher tide)

I think this has been said before on this forum a long time ago. Can't recall who said it - maybe Gorgo.
