With Kirra, what's going on with the 1km walk to the water? I've never understood why they needed to pump all that sand into Coolangatta and Kirra. I would have preferred watching the buildings built too close to the beach on the GC become an artificial reef - it may still happen, and in my lifetime.
They built rock walls at the tweed river to stop sand build up in the river mouth but this stopped the natural sand flow northwards up the southern coast of QLD (the goldcoast). So they pump the sand to recreate the natural sand flow up the coast. But in my opinion the rock walls have effected the water flow from tweed heads to kirra close to shore so the sand being pumped isn't being moved up the coast fast enough, hence the build up and creation of the super bank and the beach at Kirra big enough for 2 football ovals.
I think they rushed the plans for the rock wall without thinking through and then put in place actions to correct poor estimations/judgements which has just created more problems
.....ACTUALLY just read this link. It's a bit bias towards the polys but you can read the truth into it.
