A big thankyou to Dale and Mark for a great time trial on the lake this morning. Despite torrential rain overnight and a cold morning we had nearly 20 people turn up for a solid lap around the lake. This is a great way to bring the local paddling community together and the numbers are growing each week. The BBQ is full of great discussion and race analysis and the guys provide all the boards to demo afterwards.
If you're interested in meeting other paddlers, improving your times and having the opportunity to demo the latest race boards, make an effort to get down to the lake on Sunday mornings.
Thanks to elite racers Sam Parker and Dave Kissane for sharing their wisdom with us each week also.

Yep - looked like a fun morning, despite the rain (but I guess it kept you guys cool while you pushed around the course).

Here's some of the action:

Great video. Interesting watching how the different boards cut the water. Saw quite a variety of boards too.
What distance are you racing over and what times are you getting?
Be good for all groups to standardise on a set course distance sowe can all "virtual" race each other. Any ideas on this distance?

The course is 4.83 km with Dave setting the standard on Sunday with a 30.05. The water in the lake was a bit higher this weekend meaning less shallow bits a fewer issues with weed banks. Still some draggy bits which would have sapped some time but we were 1.5 minutes or so faster than last time around.

Sam.

Great Vid Casso. Loved the slow mo sections, particularly Dave and Sam paddling at the same tempo.

Great paddle by Dave. Using our time sheet calculator that would have him averaging 9.63km/h which is only 0.02km/h slower then Beau O'Briens time.

Yep, young Kissa is going to be very hard to beat in the Over 40's races at the Aussie Titles in August.

Glad you like the vid guys.

I think it will be a great race between Kissa and Peasey (SecretAgent) for the 'old blokes' division, unless Peasey decides to contest the Opens this weekend.

BTW, great vid Casso.

Were back on this Sunday everyone see you there

Time Trials With Jpp Narrabeen Lake

Sunday Time Trials 17th June 2012 on the Lake with JPP

Hey everyone,

JPP are holding time trials on the Lake for all those racers out there wanting to keep up their training, and all those who want to start racing but don't know where to begin. Some of Australia's best including will be there on hand to give some pointers and share some secrets that make them so damn fast including some stroke technique for those requiring it (that means everyone doesn't it?), and how to convince the other half that its better for them if your out paddling.(Don't ask me how, I think he has a direct line with God).

Time: 7:30am for a 8am start

Cost: $10 with own board

$25 if you wish to hire a race board from JPP (Many to chose from)

Distance: 4-5 km (we are looking at running a shorter course for those who feel there not up to the challenge, so please come along and let's get you enjoying this great sport). Sam Parker will be there and giving tips and technique advise post race.

There will be a BBQ breakfast aftwerwards to cure your hard earned appetite, brag about your performance and meet new friends.

Look forward to seeing as many of you there that can make it

Dale and Mark

Great Vid. Thanks for the effort involved. Loved the slow motion, really isolates the techniques. (good & bad) Wish we had an organised group like that up here.
