It's a cold winters day in Melbourne.

The water is freezing and you have no wet suit on (because there's no way you are going to fall in).

You've paddled for more than an hour and a half.. and stayed perfectly dry.

You are only 2 minutes from the end and the stupid back wash from the Sandringham break water wall catches you out.

Jeeeez I hate that.. Climbing back on my board I think I said something like "not happy Jan" ..

Clearly the weight of the camera was the tipping point.

It's worse when you fall in just minutes into an hour long paddle. I put my daughter on the front of my nalu to have a look at a small wooden boat wreck under shallow water during a pleasant Vic winter's day a couple of years ago... no wetty, just shorts and a long sleeve-t. She moved one way - I over corrected so she wouldn't fall in and sacrificed myself. I didn't want to pull the pin on the paddle, so finished it wet and cold. She couldn't even see the remnants of the wreck after it all.
