The Gold Coast has been hit by a jelly fish plague. I got an old windsurfer fin from the shed and bolted on a go pro. problem was they were so thick every time one hit the camera it would almost throw you off.

Great footage. Particularly liked the black and white shots, looks surreal. Saw some aerial shots of this bloom/swarm/smack on the news last night. We had these buggers piled up at the point a couple of years back. Livened the kids up, that's for sure!

great footage Piros ! i like the B/W stills also .

Port Phillip had the same drama a few years ago when i was sailing there one time. Not sure if they are still there ?

I believe that jelly fish can survie in extremly poor water quaility . So its a spiraling downwards problem , fish get fewer and jelly's increase as the water quality gets worse , maybe ?

Great kinda abstract film Piros. I love checking out what swims beneath and you nicely show just not fish. Happy not to swim amongst them. They seem to bounce off the fins and I wonder if the outboard prop macerates them?

hey, sailing in pittwater as a young tacker there used to be swarms of the large brown man o war jelly fish ,they'd hit your centreboard and nearly bring you to a stop,a mate hade a tinny with a 15hp johnson ,he'd put it in reverse and yes, macerate the **** out of them, this was back in the 70s and 12-13 y/o so not really environmentally conscience at that age
