Pm riverider pretty sure he has one. If anywhere near as good as the World Wides it will be a good board.

hey sharper, i've had mine for a little while now, but as you will know every time you get a new board the surf seems to turn to crap
i've only had one good session on it in chest high waves and find it has more drive than the stungun in the smaller stuff, it does hold the face just as good as the stungun on the couple of bigger days i've used it and is the best paddler of a board that size i've tried, but it is harder work staying upright out the back.
just looking forward to getting some more water time on it

Thanks guys for the replies. I'm on an 8'7" JL Kwad but have been contemplating something like the 8'7" stun gun or the 8'3" super tech for steeper waves. When you say is unstable out the back River rider do you mind if I ask what your weight specs and height are?

Hey sharper, the stugun is a great board in steeper stuff, you would class them as high performance, but the supertech is another step up in performance, but for comfort and performance id go the stungun, but saying that I'm getting my sea legs for the supertech.

And for something a little bit different..I have heard nothing but great things about the performance of the new Laird short boards - I had a squiz as one at the SUPWA Super Demo day on Sunday. For big walls and high line grip the serrated rails provide extreme grip. The finish of the boards is premium - they seem to have applied all the construction and finishing goodness available from the Kinetic factory. Wow is the word

Hi Guys,
I got the 8'3 supertech for a while. Used back to back with the Stun Gun 8'2.
Even if only 5 liters difference I found it more easy and stable.
Another amazing board from master Jimmy!
Will not replace the SG but in smaller waves like to head high it does manouver better.
I used with the kwad set up. Board fly and turn really tight..
If the Stun Gun was a mix between the Mano and the Kwad but more going toward the performance of the Mano.

The Supertech is a mix again of the Mano and Kwad but more toward the performance of the Kwad...

Not sure if I made myself clear here!!! ha ha ha..
And of course come in super small sizes so is toward pro people..
For me it took the place of my Stun Gun 8'2....
Now I can go from the Supertech to the Baby Bomb or Black and Blue Noise rider depending on the conditions..
BTW is you want to give it at go just drop by!
Ciao Jankie

ps. Kwad 8'7 to ST 8'3 is quite a big step!! I would go SG 8'7...

That's some good feedback Jankie. Thanks for the offer. Yeah I'm leaning towards the 8'7" stun gun actually.

I'm about the same specs as you ... albeit a little younger. :P
I reckon the Stun Gun might be the next step for me. As Jsnkie said from the kwad to the Super tech might be a big a step.]

The 8 1 WW is a good option for small waves

Especially in carbon

This is jimmys take on the world wides.

"The World Wide boards are shorter in general than the Stun Guns. That's the difference, mainly. Although the tail block is a swallow, the tail in general is a little pulled. They're not meant to replace the Stun Gun. They're just an addition to the line. They're for riders who want something a little shorter and possibly more forgiving than the Stun Guns. They are a little more volume as far as the similar sizes go (8'1" World Wide is 112 liters and the 8'2" Stun Gun is 99 liters) but they ARE high performance boards, just like the Stun Guns. Aloha, Jimmy"

Hey Jankie,
While we're on the subject of JL boards I was wondering if you could give us a comment on the comparison between the JL Striker and the new Black and Blue. Both nose riders and I love the Striker but have not found any one yet who has ridden the Black and Blue

Hi Mick,
the B&B machine is a no compromise nose rider... Like a big long board single fin nose rider..
It does what it suppose to do like no other board out there but need some serious skill to use it!
Striker was not that great for nose riding in my opinion. Was more like an all round board.
I love my 9'6 B&B and when is waist high or smaller is my board of choice.
Ciao Jankie

Hey tortoise, still waiting to get into some good waves, as you know it goes to crap when you get a new board, but here's something to keep you going.

Hi Guys,
today got the 8'3 in some good overhead waves at oka point Sanur.
Well the boards really perform well... I got it with the kwad set up from the factory and I have been using it like that.
Yes it does have a lot of the Stun Gun but is different. Is really responsive and fast.. Turn very well and is super easy to throw it around.
Now I'm even more confuse on what board to use or what is better for.
I still think the Stun Gun handle better the bigger stuff but it could be just a fin choice as I usually use the SG as a thruster..
Is definitely easier then the SG 8'2..
Ciao for now Jankie
