Hi there peeps from what I have read in these forums, name brand boards/ especially second hand name brand boards are the best way to go for a begginner, but to the disgrace of many Suppers, I have recently purchased..... An el cheapo soft board ( enter gasps of shock and horror !!!) an 11' mirage to be exact . Price was a huge factor and I have seen a few boards and people/egos damaged (boards fixable, egos not so much ) caused by inexperienced Suppers. So for the safety of myself and to that of an expensively beautiful board I have chosen to go with a soft Sup. Now my question is ... " What are people's experiences with a soft board and how do they rate them compared to hard boards . Also do they need any special care to keep them at their best ?" Cheers.
Ps I live at The Caves( 25 mins to Yeppoon beach), Qld, Aus. I'm 5'7 tall, 64 kgs and an avid learner

Sounds like you made the right choice , don't leave it out in the sun and wash the salt water offWhen you wear it out you can then go for a hard board.

Hi Mel77
Don't have any experience with soft boards however we have two inflatable ULI s which we love and for a beginner the falls on an inflatable ,and I presume soft boards, don't hurt as much.
My wife and I paddle three times a week in the fresh water side of the Fitzroy if we can help with your SUP journey lets us know we would be happy to pass on our limited knowledge
Cheers

I think I just saw DJ driving past on his way to the airport, waving an airline ticket in his hand...
