Hi,

i just joined the forum after ordering my first SUP board.

I tried an SUP during my last surftrip in Portugal and i had lots of fun.
After reading some of the reviews here on this forum i decided to get me
a Naish 11,4 SUPboard. I weigh about 93 Kgs, and i hope the board has enough
float for flat water paddeling too.

i can´t wait till it gets here ...

Greetings from Germany

Welcome Marc, The 11'4 is a good board. I saw one of the new ones last week and the deck grip looks sweet with the Naish tattoo graphics on it. What sort of paddle are you going to get?

Can you SUP where you are in Germany?

Hi,

i ordered the NSP paddle which is adjustable. Probably not the best paddle out there but i got a good deal on it.

I can do some flat water SUP here in Frankfurt, the first waves are about 400 km from me. At least i can practice a bit where i live...

i have been out the whole week with a terrible flu, and i am finally getting better.thankfully not the swine flew[}:)], but i felt really bad. i will take some more time to recover until i will test this new baby...i can?t wait.

compared to the Naish, my 9 foot Steward looks like a toothpick :)

Well done Marc, thats a really nice looking board. And there's nothing wrong with the NSP paddles either. It's a good first paddle imo.

Hi Marc,

You will love that board, I know DJ does!

I want to have a launching BBQ for my next board as it is a bit of a TANKER, so it will look something like this PMSL!

Please send us some pics

Hi Marc

Now you have your Naish you won't need your surfboard anymore. If you're surfing a longboard now you'll love the Naish.

From all reports swine flu is not that bad. A bit of a runny nose, a few days in quarantine at home. Health officials stopping by with care packages. Sounds good to me.

HI guys - I too have joined the SUP surfing community - just finally got out in my Naish 11'4" yesterday at Trigg after the recent storms we have been having in Perth ,

I saw the recent topics on the Naish deck grip coming away and it appears than even though mine is brand new and the dealer assured me this was not the faulty deckgrip mine is already peeling from the thicker middle part.... - I see Marc's deckgrip is white - is this a new one - any advice before I take mine back to the dealer - ? Thanks guys,

By the way - I thought SUP surfing would be easy after surfing for years (and it is in flat water !!) but man its not in the surf hey ! Gave some surfers a good laugh yesterday falling off numerous times !!

Great forums guys and thanks for all the advice that I have been soaking up reading them !

Hey mate
Take it back and let the dealer have a look before you use it again you must keep the deck grip dry underneath if you keep surfing it it will surely come up more. If you want to fix it your self dry it completely glue lifted parts with quick grip and the sika flex along the raised edged pieces( which should be done on all boards with raised edges no matter what grip it is).

From the looks of it the camo grip is being fazed out and the white grip is the newer stuff but some boards still come with camo for now and is a great grip when stuck down good.

Hope this helps but i would still recommend letting the guys you got it of have a look.

Take it back and swap it out-you shouldn't need to worry about repairing it yourself-it's an $1800 board!

I've been hearing about peeling Naish deck grips for months now - you'd think they would have sorted it out by now.

Only reason i mention about repairing it your self is that some people don't care too much about small stuff like that and would rather do it themselves and i would just like to know that they are doing it right.

The deck grip has been sorted out there is no on going issue there but what there ,is raised edges which it dose not matter weather it Naish or creatures of leisure or any other type of grip and all it take is a little more care when putting it on with a few little extra precautions and it should be all sweet but at the end of the day its still grip and siht can happen. Def take it back and show the guy you brought it off as all Naish dealer stand by there products and will back it %100

All 2010 Naish boards come pre griped which has completely sorted out the prob.

Just thought I would let you all know how I got on - been to the dealer in Scarborough who was great as usual - we'll keep an eye on it - nothing to worry about. At the end of the day my board is going to get a lot more abuse over the years than a peeling deckgrip !

Thanks guys,

This may help with your lifting pad problem.. www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=37867

Robby Naish told me that they were going away from the deck grip with the side ramps because of the problem with them lifting where the ramps meet the pad.

like jacko said, all grips with ramps need to be sikaflexed. this issue keeps popping up and its always the same answer- sikaflex the edges

Yeah it will work fine in the beginning. When you find the addiction kicking in, go and buy yourself an expensive light carbon paddle - it makes all the difference.

Since getting my carbon paddle, I've been thinking of some other uses for my alloy naish paddle that I got some years ago - it may be useful for stirring the mulch up in my compost bin. On the other hand I should just put it out on our nature strip next to the crt monitors.

I have now been through three of these decks supplied by Naish. The third one is now coming up even after I Sikaflexed the entire are around the raised section. This time it peeled about 30cm in from of the raised section which then of course let water in and now it is all crapped out again.

It takes a little while to clean off and reinstall this, so try to get it right the first time. Also don't listen to the "white adhesive is good, yellow is bad" as this hasnt really worked out for me..............Im sure the new, factory applied deck grip will be MUCH better!

Good luck and stay on top of it because once the water gets underneath this glue completely lets go!

Cheers,
Ronnie
