Check this out... www.worldskincancerfoundation.com/justinsjourney.php ..I think good on him and good luck to him.

400 miles..what's that..650 klms....btw..I notice he's using a paddle like mine....and I think he's using a C4 Vortice..

You can follow his progress here.. maps.findmespot.com/Account/AuthCheck?redirectUrl=%2FTrack

You guys in Queesland should do a paddle like this down to Vic..Afterall..It would be easier paddling down than me paddling up to you guys.

Yeah..I'd love to do the straight..

Many years ago a group of us were going to windsurf the Base Straight and do it in record time..Not like the way Les and Mark did it..Island hopping and resting on a boat in calm conditions.

We had a guy that was involved with the America's Cup racing that was helping us and looked into a support boat that could keep up..Because we wanted to do it in a good 30 knoter it was hard to find a boat that would keep up.

We never got to do it..Tiga in France sent us (Steve and I ) two Tiga custom race Pan-Am boards for us to use..Very narrow and very light and very fast.

The biggest problem was being on the same tack for so long...But that's not a problem on a SUP.. ..but first I need a new Naish GLIDE..

yeah me too , island hopping would be the go.Plenty of islands to stop at on the way. What an adventure that would be.I think i would get one of those electronic shark shields though. My old man used to fish off King Island and he,s told me stories of the big whities in Bass Straight.

Paddling a stand up board across Bass Strait would be a monumental task. Many people have done it in sea kayaks, which are extremely sea-worthy craft. I have spoken to a guy who did the crossing, and he said the longest stretch in the boat was 19 hours! That's a long time on your bum in a tight cockpit, I couldn't imagine trying to stand up paddle for that long! And they were island hopping! And in a kayak you can munch food and drink.
I would like to do an extended trip though, I think a coastal trip along the lines of the guy in Florida who is raising money for skin cancer, is the way to go.

I AGREE KEEPING LAND IN SITE IS A GOOD POLICY.AND THEIRS PLENTY OF COAST TO EXPLORE ON AN EXTENDED SUP TRIP.

Later in the year I plan to do some trips along the surf coast, maybe from Lorne to Anglesea, or Torquay. It would be good to get a group together, and make a 'mini-expedition' of it. We could stop for lunch, and have fun along the way in surf breaks.
