I'm looking for a paddle for my wife and teen daughter to get into stand up paddling this summer, mostly flat water - initially bought a Naish alloy adjustable but I used that myself today and it's a dog. I have a Kialoa Shaka Puu along with a nice little wooden paddle that I'm loathe to scratch. Rather than mortgage the farm on another Kialoa, I was looking for something cheaper but extremely light weight. I read an enticing sales spiel for a KIA KAHA (Fiberglass shaft). Anyone used one of these? Alternately, has anyone tried one of those wooden numbers from "The Paddler" in Geelong? How heavy are those and how do they cut to size?

Second That!
Have had one of Deans paddles for about a month and couldnt be happier. Light, strong and most importantly, at a price that wont give the Minister for War and Finance an excuse to keep you working around the house for the next six months.
