Bought my 6yr old daughter the Naish Kieke 6'6 x25 recently, she loves it and is going great on it, had her first trip out into the ocean on it over the weekend. They come in a bigger size too around the 9ft i think

I got an ECS kids sup for my 7 and 11 year olds. It's brilliant, soft top, hard bottom. 7 year old loves it in the flat water and 11 year old in the surf. Great board.

Look also at one of the smaller inflatables - kids love 'em

My 7-year old daughter has a Starboard Astro Junior (10'6" x 25" x 4") inflato. Great little board for her and given the race shape I don't need to slow down too much for her when we are going for a cruise plus being an inflato she doesn't hurt herself when she comes off.

Has anyone tried the O&E 'Spud' in comparison? Think they retail for <$500.

Scott.

I've got a spud for my kids. A good starter and picked it up under $500 with paddle and leash. It's ok to give them a start but I think they will out grow it pretty fast. Nice and soft but not built for speed or tracking. Hoping to put them on some waves tomorrow.
