Hey guys/girls,

I'm in Melbourne for a few days this week and over the weekend for a 40th, and since I have time on my side (no kids in tow) I thought I might do some new board browsing. Would love some tips on the best SUP Stores, I'd love to see some 2014 boards if any ones stocking them yet?

Might even sneak time for a paddle presume there's hire places?(will need a wettie as well not bringing one) That's if I am not to hungover each day :)

cheers in advance

Greg

RPS in Elwood.

The ZU in West StKilda.

SUP HQ / Kite Republic at the StKilda Seabaths.

SHQ in Sandringham.

Then you have PSUP down on the Mornington Peninsula or Strapper in Torquay if you are getting out of town.

There aren't too many 2014 boards around yet. The DC/NSP boards are in but Fanatic and Naish are still a couple of weeks away at least, and the Starboards are still a couple of months away. Not sure about others.

There is also a place called Zak's in Thornbury as well, not as well stocked as the above but worth having a look at if you're close!! An excellent range of Fins, The best in Vicco I'd say

I wouldn't go to Zaks to look at the latest range of SUP boards though. He flirted with SUP for a while but decided to stick with the shortboards. He may still have some old stock but like I say, nothing from 2014, that's for sure.

He has an excellent shaper named Scotty who has repaired several of my carbon mishaps, so if anyone is looking for an alternative to Oke - try Zak.

But as Leroy says, lots of fins, so that's the other reason to check out Zaks.

West Coast!

I was going to argue that NZ has a West Coast, but not a Collignwood, except a quick Google reveals NZ does indeed have a Collingwood.

So my revised argument is that we'll need every supporter we can get!

LOL. But Perth is the third largest kiwi city in the world isn't it?. It used to strike fear in my heart when I knew Nth Beach was playing Applecross in NRL Then i'd remember the after game celebrations, no matter who won and it was all OK You tend to party harder when concussed!!!

Too Good PT Very LOL. And to think a Kanga supporter with a real!!!!! IQ. They never had those in the old days. Your comment was so good I apologise for mine! Another Bomber on drugs. Because of my Hip Replacement they've even given me one I have to inject into my belly to stop DVT. Clearly too late, I think I might already have one in my brain!!

Leroy,

I don't want to distract the topic, but I feel compelled to recount the following:

Many a long year ago I broke my leg v badly (cycling) and ended up spending a couple of months in traction. While at the Alfred (a teaching hospital) I received two stomach injections morning and evening each day from (usually) young nurses. Before people's imagination run away with themselves - I should say that I was not at that time in any state to admire the finer points of the injectors (morphine drips do that to you) - especially when one the regular nurses was absolutely crap at injecting and, even, on one occasion got the needle stuck in my stomach muscles (I had them in those days) so that it wouldn't come out! F'kn painful I have to say!

After a couple of weeks at the Alfred I was moved to a rehab hospital and, after a day or two of not being used as a pin cushion, I asked what had happening to the blood-thinning injections. The nurse there replied, "Oh, these tablets here do the same job. They were only injecting you at the Alfred so that the nurses could get practice."

Of course, I would not want to interfere with your medical treatment and rehab, but there may be tablets that do the same thing for you.

You sure Rosscoe! I have to administer them myself and can assure you the process holds no allure for me! The stuff's called Glexacane I think. They mumbled something about a little prick for a big prick with a little prick. I'll ask my GP and specialist in two weeks when I go to see them. Thanks for the heads up though. I saw enough to cause me concern. They insisted on taking me for an Xray when my doctor had clearly said not to whilst I was getting discharged. I told the the nurse who was taking me who said she'll check, and came back saying no I still needed to have the Xray. As she wheeled me past the nurses station I said light heartedly I thought I wasn't supposed to be getting this anymore. The Head nurse looked up and said 'you're not!'with a look of incredulity, the discharging administrator literally let her jaw drop and the person wheeling the chair looked accusingly at a group of three nurses. I was wheeled back to my room and two minutes later a nurse came and apologised. Five minutes later an orderly (through no fault of his own) turned up to take me for THe very same Xray. I LOL'd and said go ask the nurses station. I didn't see him again. I reckon there is a message in there somewhere. That's the beauty of having a crap run of luck, you start to question things, to at least get to a stage of harm minimisation. I won't even go into how they charged me $5000.00 for 7 nights and I only stayed 2. They demand payment on admission but do they make a payment reversal when you don't stay that long (and apparently never would have)?? They've got $3500.00 of my money till they feel like giving it back to me. The administrator today said "Oh I can see where she made the mistake". My life is full of good Karma(not). But lets face it I could be a child prostitute in an third world brothel. You've got to have a sense of perspective
