any chance of getting this out or is it just a matter of waiting until it snaps at the site of the incredibly tight granny knot?

With a bit of effort you might. I had one in mine and got it out using a bit of lube, plyers and small screw driver. That was 12months ago and leggie is still ok just a kink where the knot was.

Used a bit of warm water ....never liked the look of that kink though
