Has anyone got their Kombi set up with racks inside so that you can slide your SUP in near the roof? Greatly appreciate any photos or advice.

I made a simple set from pine in the day when we still had the four kids at home. It was excellent because the boards, kids and dog still fitted in the kombi easily. They also were easy to remove and replace. No photos sorry but I will try and describe them. The Kombi has an internal gutter near the top of the windows. Just cut two pieces of pine (I think I used 4 by 1). Slide them in to place so they are suspended/supported by the gutter. Then simply attach at 90 degrees six eight inch long "legs" pointing down.(three legs on each cross bar) Then run another piece of pine across joining the bottom of the "legs". Add some padding and bingo internal racks. You just slide the board into the space formed.

Looking from the back to the front it should look something like this.
The legs should be thicker at maybe two/two _____________
The top bar rests on top of the internal gutter. |___ |____|
Some duct tape over the ends protects the paint and makes for a snug fit.
You need a central leg as well as the diagram shows.
This provides the strength needed to support the weight. Boards are slid into the spaces.

Thanks fellas. Timber rack will suit perfectly. Appreciate the help. Using the lip near the ceiling is a great idea.

11' 6" board is causing grief in trying to fit in. Nothing else for it. Time for a 9' 6" mana.
