I picked up a s/h one through buy'n'sell for a mate last week, with no fin. What fin could be used other than the recommended one? I've thrown in a very old 'wild winds' slotted fin from an old w/surfer.

Also, does anyone have any comments on them? We tried to get it on the water on the weekend, but didn't get a chance. At over 100kgs, I'm keen to have a go on it on flatwater & DWing, to see the diff between that & my Nalu 11'6" - but would I be too heavy for it?

The board is mainly for mate's wife who wants to paddle flatwater for a bit of fun & fitness.

Anyone?

Also, I was wondering how best to 'clean it up'. It's showing signs of age and the colour has faded with the glass fibre sheet starting to come through. Mate & I thought that if we give it a light rub & a clear coat of epoxy, that would be better than painting as the colour looks like it's in the glass, and not a paint coat??? There are some dings that have been patched with epoxy, and the colour has been preserved under the patches.

Don't know about the fin.

The cloth showing through the resin is due to heat.

To seal it up I'd probably take an easier cheaper option and rub it back and clear spray or pro-tec rather than a coat of epoxy.

The clear paint will hide some of the exposed weave but it will depend on how damaged it is.

Ring Noosa Surf Works and ask to speak to Stuey or Tully about the penetrator - they built it, so they are the best and only people to ask about the best fin for it and also any repairs needed.

Thanks guys for you replies, I'll pass that info on to the mate. I thought there might be someone here that owns/owned one and could give some advice on the board also. It looks fast & apart from some cosmetic wear it's in good shape. Never tried paddling on a displacement hull board, so should be fun.
