Hi Guys

Just starting out SUPing
I've decided to go for a Laird Soft Top but I'm undecided on what size would be best for me, I have a lot of paddling experience, not so much surfing experience.

The 11' is 27" wide
The 12.1 is 31" wide
(there is not stock of the 11'6, but that's still only 27' wide anyway)

Height is 6' weight is 95kg (210lbs)

I'll be doing 50/50 flatwater and surfing

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

IMHO...You should defiantly go with the bigger board.

The 12'1" x 31" Laird is a classic board and always will be.

Try and get a new one with the hand hole.

Welcome to the Breeze forum...

As DJ said Hartzy welcome to the forum mate, i think if you can you should demo both and see what feels the best. The 12'1'' at 31'' wide would definately be a good starter as it would be very stable and make starting out a lot more fun.
Hope this helps.

Cheers

Thanks for the advise guys.

Yeah I'm probably leaning towards the 12.1" now, once I master it and upgrade I can always keep it for two up fun with the kids.

cheers

Have a look at the NSP 11' which is 31" wide, a good weight, soft deck and has a hand hold. Plus excellent price and I think good looking.

Hartzy,

Just in case it helps your decision, the Laird 11'6 is 29" wide. Right in the middle of the two sizes you were considering if you're undecided on a Laird. I liked it when I paddled it. I'm about your weight. Link attached:

'P co' mentioned the NSP 11'0 - DJ posted some photos of it a while ago, He was going to paddle it and post his opinion here but I don't think he's got round to it yet. It looks a nice board also. I have heard it's a very good price but not sure exactly how much. Maybe P co can let us know?

Hope this helps.

11' NSP is $1295 and comes with a leggie and nice glass centre fin at that price. Well worth a look. I haven't used one yet but Longboards Scarborough will be using them as hire boards this summer.

Thanks Subculture and P co

The 11'6" would be my preference, but can't wait the 2 months, apparently the 11'6" is out of stock.

At that price the 11' NSP is definitely worth a look at!

The NSP is worth a look at but it's like chalk and cheese compaired to the big Laird IMO.

What about other brands?

Couldn't wait so I'm now the proud owner of a 12"1' Softy (imagine the length when hard!)

Must go to bed early tonight so I can get out there before work tomorrow

Thanks for all your help fellas.
