Hey everyone,

I recently bought my first SUP. I've had a go in the bay in Port Melbourne and tried again in Torquay over the Easter break.

I'm hoping to get my confidence up by practicing in lakes and rivers (preferably lakes).

Can you advise of lakes I can go and try it? Whilst I'd prefer close to Melb, all over Victoria would be great too.

Thanks in advance.

Pete!

Try Patterson River and/or head in through the canals.. You can either paddle up the river or you can explore the waterways a check out all the nice houses that face the water.. You will often get people waving and saying hi as you paddle past.. It's very sheltered from the wind and usually glassy.

Where on he bay did you paddle?

Albert Park Lake.
Lake Wendouree if you feel like a drive to Ballarat (wouldn't want to fall in though ).
Lilydale Lake.
Cherry Lake in Altona.
Modewarre is about 20min past Geelong, put in at the boat ramp on the western side, dangle a line you might jag a nice trout but stay home if it's windy.

They all tend to chop up a bit if windy but not as much as the bay.
