What leg ropes does everyone use??
I bought a new Ocean & Earth one, not sure of the model but it wasn't a cheap one cost $50 at Triggers.. only used it a couple of times and I snapped it on Sat at Woolamai...

Then yesterday out at Miami at St Andrews my mate I was with had the same leggie and snapped his too..

Miami was a very heavy wave but surely someone makes something super strong to deal with it???

Hope you kept your receipt for the leggie.

O & E are cool like that. They replace them if it's within 3 months. OOr at least they have for me!

Creatures of Leisure make a really thick leggie designed for SUP punishment.

I had an FCS leash that lasted more than 3 years all through the beginning stages when I needed it the most. On a 10' PU board as well so probably pulling harder than normal.

I'd recommend them fully.

I doubt that anyone relies on a leg rope more than me. I recommend Balin. Nice spring, won't rip your foot off. Seems to be tsunami proof.

A few manufacturers do an 8mm chord option, instead of the more normal 7mm or 7.4mm chord. Obviously 6mm "comp" chord will be useless!

I would recommend at least 7.4mm, and if its overhead, the 8mm option would be the preference.

Read the fine print on the packaging.

Some manufacturers sell Chord, so if it has an allen key screw, you can actually replace the chord, and keep using the Ankle Strap and Rail Saver.

If it is Aussie Made with the "rivet" (non allen key) option, try sending it back to the manufacturer for a replacement chord.

The 3 R's, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle !!

Three it's a magic number
Yes it is, it's a magic number
Because two times three is six
And three times six is eighteen
And the eighteenth letter in the alphabet is R
We've got three R's we're going to talk about today
We've got to learn to
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Question about big boards ,leggies ,big surf.

Do you want the leggie to snap in extreme conditions or do you just get dragged along like a tuna on a long line untill huey lets you go.I know the theory about reaching down and undoing the strap, but what do they do at Sunset Beach at 15 ft.

I've snapped a few and swam in with the paddle from the shark nets , does every one just use those 8 mm thick ones?

After snapping 3 Da kine leggy's, and the last resulting in a big swim and damage to my board when a passing cray boat picked it up I'm now using the creatures 10ft outer reef.

Me too....still pays to check cord for fin nicks & make sure the allen keys are still allening b4 going out on a big day though

The last 3, the cord was intact, the breakage was where the swivel connects and is stitched into the rail saver.

7mm O&E leggies haven't been up to the sup punishment in my experience.

I haven't had any probs with the Creatures Teahupoo (8mm X 8ft) on sups 9ft and under. The 8ft length helps reduce the time it takes to retrieve the board between waves and I also like Dogman's advice about reducing the deathzone when there are a few other surfers about

I use the Creatures Wiamea (8mm X 9ft) on longer boards as I think the leggie is supposed to be the same length or longer that your board.

8mm seems unbreakable for the waves I surf, but I'm sure the Creatures Outer Reef (9mm in both 10 and 12ft) would be useful for some of the hellmen on rhino chasers.

I bought the Ocean n Earth 8mm cord, and it went in at 9 foot and come back to the beach at 12 foot in 3/4 foot beachies. My board was 9'6 PSH ripper.

Took it back to the surfshop and they were scratching their heads, and gave me a new creatures outer reef 10ft 9mm mother chucker.

Used it in Bali at 6 foot Ulu's and got a few floggings and still good as new

Don't go too short as the springback factor is not good for the front teeth
