Hey guys looking at getting a new surf sup can't decide between long boarding or short boarding both are fun the 2 long boards I'm keen on are the tryed, tested and approved Naish nalu 11 ft or the Tom Carroll 11ft which looks really fun !!!!! The 2 short boards are the starboard whopper Jr. Or the fanatic all wave 9'4 have demoed all these boards except the Tom Carroll 11 footer my question is if anybody has demoed the Tom Carroll board and how they rated it ????
Haha im 115 kegs mate so a 9'4 is a short sup for me !!!!! The whopper Jr. is soooo stable turns good and still heaps of fun cruising with the little man up front great board !!!! But sort of think sup surfing is at its best whilst standing on the nose which is why I'm looking at the 11 foot range
I'd go with both. I really like having two boards for different conditions. So, I started with a 9'2" Allwave, great board, but now I've gone with a 10'1" Jimmy Lewis Black and Blue for anything below waist high, and a 8'8" Naish Hokua X32 LE for anything bigger.
Having both is defiantly a possibility in my head !!!! But the bean counter (the wife) might have other ideas. I reckon I'm gunna keep an eye on the used Boards this time round and wait till the first bargain either long board or shortish board and just run with it.
If I had to choose just one board then I would go bigger. I love my shorter board but you might get more use out of the longer board - if it is the right board. The challenge is that you might choose a different longer board if you knew that you are likely to get the shorter board in the not too distant future (or if you think it is likely that you will lose weight - I lost over 10 kg thanks to SUPing).
Hi, think you should look at the new Starboard nut. I tried the 9' it was fantastic. Turns like a short board but nose rides like a longboard. they do bigger sizes, try and demo one
Hey mate what's the go with the nut are they trying to get the best out of both worlds with the smaller width in the back half of the board and wider at the front half of the board !!!???? Will defiantly try and find one to have a paddle with tho !!! Cheers
