Just some general questions:

- What format is best to save files in just for low quality Iphone 4 type videos after editing?

- Post on Vimeo or Youtube?

- What resolution best saved in?

- Any other tips to not have to wait an hour to upload a 60 second clip?

I'll load one up to YouTube, and get back to you. I've been meaning to do that...

What have you found out so far ???

--------
Edit - I've got nothing.... I'm uploading 155MB in "MOV" format from iPhone4, and it is scheduled to take 90 minutes. However, my upload speeds are very slow, compared to download....

My computer sucks the vid from my camera in a WMV file I think and I use the free MovieMaker program to make the movie and download the finished movie to my computer.. It's pretty easy.. and then I open Vimeo and select upload video and then I select that file.. and Vimeo does the rest telling me when it done.. Pretty easy.. I'll never use YouTube again because they take off the music 90% of the time and I hate that.

Thanks DJ. The music would be associated with copyright (probably).... Maybe YouTube is tighter on that.... I'm not sure.

Save your movie at a maximum size of 1280 x 720 before you export to Vimeo or You Tube. All down loads take time , make sure sure you have good internet connection ADSL 2 modems are the go.

Yes You Tube filters clips through software to check for songs licensed and owned by the major record companies and when the filter finds something that it presumes is being used illegally, it strips the soundtrack. Vimeo does not use this software. I suspect there is an agreement ($$$) between the owners of You Tube (Google) and the record companies to protect copyright but so far, no deal has been struck with Vimeo. In the past I have occasionally licensed music in videos that I have had to upload on You Tube and it is a pain in the backside having to prove to You Tube that I have the right to use the music.

Thanks for the tips, I think I was kinda on the right track. Editing with my program and you have a million choices of what kind of file to produce it in at the end.

I chose the 1280 x 720 quality and for a 60 second clip it was going to take 60 mins to upload to Vimeo.

I wondered if any files were better to upload but I guess it's the old quality vs time thing that I will need to play with.

Im not sure exactly on how it all works, but when I 'share' my video from i-movie to Quicktime I set the compression to use h.264.

I have to do that via the expert settings becuase the basic setting just gives a couple options to set the size of the file, but the key is more in the compression than the file size.

I only use Vimeo now becuase like everyone else has said, YouTube kills the audio.

Im sure there is some video gurus around, but since Ive been doing that the clips come out clear once uploaded.
