The Maliko runs have been up and Down the last 4 days averaging 8/10 to 5/10. 8+ is the best you're just surfing all the way. I'm on Maui for 5 weeks so I should see some epic runs. There is Hurricane Daniel to the west of Maui that will hit Friday, Saturday. If it stays on the same path it will be just a big rain depression s##t for the Pai'lolo Channel Race 27 miles / 42 kms but if it moves south fingers crossed it will make for epic strong winds for a Maliko run or the Pai'lol Channel Race

Nice vid but the chest mount movement had me feeling seasick pretty quick. Had to walk away from the screen in the end.

Best footage I ever got on a downwind run was with the GoPro mounted to the paddle between the top and bottom hand. Once you 're on a run, hold the paddle horizontally in front of you, it acts like a two handed monopod stabilizer and you can tilt, pan or raise the camera to your mouth to lick the lens drops off.

You can then edit the parts out where you are padding so you have only the good clips left. The paddle can be used to point the camera at another paddler, held high/low etc or even rotated to film behind you. You get more interesting quality shots and none of the shakey footage from the chesty.

For mounts, use the wrist housing or bike seat post mount. If you don't have those duct tape and cable ties will do it.

Hope you get some awesome runs in the next 5 weeks.

Only use I've found for the chest mount is to hold my pants up.:-)

Cheers R
