I saw a banner on Coastalwatch advertising the Manly Festival of Surfing running from 5-8th November 2009.
Just wondering if anyone knows any details about this event?
Has anyone entered or planning to enter?

Their website says there is a stand-up paddle race and a SUP-surf event, but the rego form just has the sup race and doesn't indicate entry fees etc. or whether there are restrictions on board size? So i'm guessing its free and just a fun race as its only a couple of kms.

I'll be down in Sydney on that weekend and am thinking of entering the surf event and maybe the race if I can get hold of a board bigger than my 8'10" (I don't think I'll be allowed to get my 14' on a plane).

Hey Ali Cat, Casso knows more about this so I will let him explain it better. Basically the Race is open to anyone, while the surfing is more of an exhibition thing with a few local invited riders including Tom Carrol !!

Goatman is correct. The SUP surf comp at the Manly Festival is an invitational exhibition event. It starts at 8:00am on Sat 7 Nov 2009.

The 3km race is open to anyone and everyone and will be after the SUP surf comp at 11:00am. It looks like this will be a battle of the paddle type format with three legs out through the surf and back and a short beach run in between. Should be fun for competitors and exiting for spectators. If you are going to be anywhere near Manly on 7 Nov 2009, fill in a rego form (from the Manly Festival website - www.manlyfestivalofsurfing.com.au) and get yourself a start in the race. A 12'0" board limit exists for the race.
