Yep, I guess he did get about one years use out of it but thats not good enough IMO

I always found it a pig to ride, but if I was him I would be gutted

Poor sucker is affiliated to the "big-name-windsurfing" brand somehow, but he's using my PSH or Surfshapes board all the time while he waits for his next disposable product to arrive

Apparently there's a whole new range to choose from

My first SUP was from this brandNAME but I would never buy from this company again - I dont like how they are prepared to sell a weak product to the unknowing or the "brand-blind-faithfull-followers" & not be prepared to back the product up when it fails because it's built too weak.

Bummer about your mate snapping his board it suxs when you break any board.
But all boards break and if you think they don't then you're dreaming I've seen nearly every brand of boards break or crease in some way its just part of surfing. If he got a year out of it then that's great its better than a month not quite as good as 2 years and that's the thing with surfing you never know. I snapped 3 surf boards this year and the only person to blame is my self usually for not making the drop or something like that.

Yeah I hear you - the stresses of waves on a board etc, but this brands type of construction was too lightly built - I would go so far as to say it's a disposable type of constuction & it's up to luck if a wave smashes it on your first session or your 71st session... I think it certainly WILL break sooner than a board built with a good quality of glass-fibre lamination.

I guess I'm just pissed off with this situation 'cos my mates stuck with no board - friggin borrowing my boards while he waits for his latest board from this enourmousdinosaurmachinelike company... & he's dumb enough to stay faithfull to this brand & continue to be involved with marketing it when he KNOWS their whole philosophy sucks

I personally have no affiliation to any brand.

I have a 25+ yrs experience with surfing - riding surfboards, breaking, fixing & building them. I have also built / re-built windsurf boards & surfboards to withstand the stresses of windwhacking .... So I believe I have enough of an understanding to call B/S on the construction of this knobby rash of boards

I'm guessing I know the brand-and it kinda' shiits me that the brand neophytes get on here hammering at me when I had a problem with one of the company's boards after 6 rides-when it was OBVIOUSLY a construction rather than user fault-when I'm an Aussie end user up against a multi-national US company making Thai pop-outs.....mate of mine is in Hawaii right now and he said that at least 3 of the wood veneer hire/demo boards at their shop in Kailua have the deck cracks.

Anyway-get your mate on a PSH, Surfshapes or Laguna Bay board-he can't be so blind as to continue down the same path......

Really have to agree with paul on this one.

Any board can break and I've broken and creased many boards. It's a fact of surfing and unless it broke on a small powerless wave I wouldn't be that pissed off toward the brand. Boards break very easily if they are in the wrong spot and as paul said the person I would be pissed off at would be myself for putting it in that position. I creased a board that was glassed as heavy as it gets just because a wave landed on it wrong.

You have to realise that these things happen with any boards and a lot of the time it's not the board, it's the wave that lands on the board. I'm sure there are a lot of people on here that would have broken boards and feel the same way.

Huge call right there, Iv had surfboards that have lasted 3 seconds and some that have lasted 3 years. All depends on what type of waves he was using it in, how he looked after it, was it left in the sun on heaps of occasions, maybe it was a powerfull sucky 4 ft beachie like boodji in wa (you must know where it is, it says your from there)which would snap a tinnie in half if caught inside.

Big call about barring a brand after a year when there is so many variables about snapping a board, any board will snap if caught in the wrong spot.

Exactly-and those of us that have been surfing for years and broken and damaged boards know the difference between when damage is caused by crappy construction/design and being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or landing a heavy move-with experience you know the difference. And this is one of many of the same brand that have had problems-there's 2 snapped 906s here on the Northern Beaches alone and at least 3 with deck cracks (not the same boards)- 3 or 4 their wood veneer demo/rental boards in their Kailua store have the same cracks in the deck-it's the design and construction that's the issue-not use-for fuggs sake the boards are meant to be ridden in the surf-and they're $2,000.00!

Yes i do sell them pretty sure most people know that, but i don't have to pimp them my policy is if it works and does what it is supposed to do I'll sell it. If its a piece of siht then i wont touch it. Now i have owned most of the boards that are mentioned in this post i had a 9'6 and flogged the arse of it took it out in all kind of heavy surf it even fell of the back of my ute while going up greenmount hill and its still in one piece, I have a 9'3 and have surfed this board everywhere from the alley to straddie and there is still not so much as a mark on it i also lend this board out to anyone who wants to try it and no one has broke it yet. I also have had a 10'6 and i creased this board out in solid 6 foot surf when a set wave broke on my head it was probably 4 weeks old no one gave me a new one i got it fixed and dealt with my **** up. These boards are light but not weak if they were weak as some would like us to believe then i would snap them all the time.

If you do crease or snap a board then take it back to where you got it from let them take photo's so they can send this kind of stuff back to the company it all goes towards R&D and this way it is recorded so if for some reason there is a problem then they can fix it. All companies like to know whats going on with there boards.

Pull your head in.

Go have a chat to Jacko about boards and you will pretty quickly pick up he is a passionate bloke who seems to want more than anything to see people out on gear they will enjoy and make the most of their time on the water. I have never seen him pimp anything, actually quite the opposite.

And because he sells it means he believes in it, he is not only staking his reputation on the quality of these boards, but also his business and financial security. The option is there for anyshop that doesn't agree with the products they stock to drop them. The "it's just cause to sell them" argument is a waste.

Guys I wouldn't over-react to our Green Friend, have a look at the 6 posts he's made. Don't think he could ever be accused of being "constructive". Not even worth responding to IMO - bugger I think I can hear that shirt ripping......

I know Naish have copped a pounding on this forum, but I have a mate Matty in OG that pushes his 9'3 as hard as anyone I have seen sup any board! Beacon Bombie OH+, Ant Bombie OH++, Sucky Beacon and other than rail chips the board is clean as!

There is another Matt down South who rips on a Naish 9'6 and it gets thrashed every day, other than a few rock dings etc it to is in fine condition and this guy charges and then some!

Brooko treats his naish wrapped in cotton wool NOT Water Tower, Black Nose Etc Etc lol

So at least 3 of the Naish boards are ok lol!

I cant ride them, but that is a difference in design and my lack of skill and too much weight!

Back to horses for courses!

Phil, and there are the same number that have NOT been trashed that DO have problems.

Perhaps the inconsistency is a result of poor QC at Cobra?
