Long shot I know because I don't really know any of you guys but I have been in Melbourne since last Tuesday for the AFL GF and so haven't paddled for a week.
If there is anyone that has a spare board, paddle leg rope etc that they could loan me for a session I would love to join you on a DWer.
I am def not the fastest paddler around but am fairly experienced, I do have a couple of 14'ers back in Perth and have done The Doctor & King of the Cut etc.
By Sandy I take it you mean Sandringham?, I am staying with friends nearby and could find my way there if anyone can help a fellow paddler out I would be stoked and would be happy to return the favour if you found yourself over in Perth sometime.

That would be awesome DJ, it would be a fantastic way to finish my holiday, it's my last full day here tomorrow I fly out on Tuesday.

I am around 178cm, 5'10.

I could possibly borrow an adjustable paddle off the guy I am staying with but I will be riding a bike down so if you have something suitable it might be easier.

I will pm you my phone number.

Cheers
Kent

P.S. my first 14 was the original Glide.

How good was that!!!

Big thank you to DJ and all of the Melbourne crew, for the loan of a board and for letting me tag along on what was fantastic DWer.
My team Freo Dockers might have lost the big game that I came over for but I had a top week anyway, met some great people and to round it off by doing a DWer in 30kts (I think it may have gusted closer to 40 at times) from St Kilda to Sandringham was an unexpected bonus.

That run would def rate as good as any I have done probably the best.
I will have to try to get to one of the Mandurah Estuary runs to see how they compare because I think they would be similar.

I used DJ's original Naish Glide, I actually used to own one of those myself but had forgotten how good they are in good down wind conditions, I got some incredible runners on it and had a ball.

I take it it is the one he is selling? and for anyone wanting to get into down winding it would be a bargain, it may not be the fastest out there but it is in good condition, is more than adequate and suited those conditions very well.

So yeah thanks guys and girls much appreciated.

It was great that you could join us on our Melbourne Makilo Run..

The old original Glide is still an awesome board for sure.. It was nice to be able to catch a few runners along side you today.

I feel like a nana nap myself..

You went well today on your first DW'er with us and that 12'6" Jav was working great..

Thanks for the donuts..

It was also great to have Ann back on her first DW'er after a couple of long months of having to stay out of the water.

That was a great D/Wer, usually it Camo disappearing over the horizon, today it was Heath on the nsp/dc 12'6 rocket..

Thats was what I call a balanced D/W, with both sides of the body getting an equal workout..

and Tightlines, resplendent in the Freo jumper.. a nice consolation prize for you

Wow, nice accolade for our regular run! Thanks!

Hey Tightlines, you scored a pretty good regulation session out there today.

A few of us did a dawn session [ some of us have to work semi-normal hours ;-) ] and it was much of the same with some excellent runners around Brighton YC into Green Pt and Sandy breakwall into HMB.

Jean and I were both on our 2014 Fanatic 14 x 24.75"s for their DW maiden voyage. "WOW"!

Pity about Freo, but with their current form, there's a pretty good chance you'll be across same time next year.

Hey Woz I also did the run on the new Falcon 24.75 today and yea agree wow! Justin and I paddled it Saturday across Corio Bay in 40+ Knotts and it is one serious downwind machine :) we tagged on last years 14*27.25 and seriously hard to pick the stability difference despite nearly 30mm less width. Great session today and good vibe with interstaters and new paddlers - good work organising DJ keep up the great work!

If I hadn't been working I could have done it in my HAWTHORN jumper.... just to stay in keeping with the weekend's theme!
This is off-topic I know (sorry) but have to compliment the Freo supporters - they were great at the GF parade on Friday and at the game. They also stayed till the very end, which is not really an easy thing to do.

As I take myself off to bed, its howling out there atm. Baywinds is showing that its currently 50 knots at Fawkner Beacon, and that's not even the gusts I thnk!

Yep, I reckon we get our fair share of wind in Melbourne. That's why the quiver has to have an 8'6" and a 14'er.

Funny sort of day. We went out at 2pm - 25 - 30 kts. - Elwood to HMB. As soon as we got past the pier at Hampton and were gearing up for the runners between there and the Cerberus (best bit of that run for runners!) the wind dropped to nothing! We waited a bit for the promised increase but nothing until about 9pm.

Lesson: when it's on, go!
