I'm heading up to mambo this year and hope to catch a few waves on the way.

Anyone know of some waves worth checking out?

Anyone from around the Melbourne planning something similar?

I'll be there and there's heaps of good spots to stop at along the way.

I'm sure you know that spots on the way to Melbourne.

After Melbourne Lakes Entrance and Marlo (near Orbost) are my favorite spots to stop at..Maybe even stop off at Mallacoota also.

Thanks DJ,
I've heard that Marlo inlet is a nice spot.
Hope to catch up with you and other fellow SUPer's at mambo.

Ian I just dug up a few pics of the beaches along the way to Merimbula from my last bike ride up that way.

DJ

Seaspray (The 90 mile beach)

Lakes Entrance..View from above the inlet.

View from the shops area..It'd be a long walk across the bridge carrying your SUP board..You could paddle across.

The surf beach at Lakes Entrance.

The Snowy River near Orbost on the way to Marlo.

Marlo where the Snowy meets the ocean..It's a bit like Sandy point.

Cape Conran..It's just up from Marlo.

Mallacoota...Inlet/lake side.

Mallacoota surf beach side near Bastion Pt.

Jeez we're lucky to have so many great beaches aren't we..

Thanks DJ,
yeah we have some great spots in this part of the country. Hanging out to have a crack at point danger at Torquay and a few other waves back towards Lorne over the long weekend in Oct.

Looks like I'll have to spend a bit of time at marlo on the way through.

Every time I've gone pass the inlet at Lakes Entrance I've always thought it would be great to hire a tinny so I can get across to the sand bar in the right hand side of your picture for a kite.
I might throw the kiting gear on the starie and paddle across.
Do you know if thats a restricted area or not?
Ian
