20 to 25 pretty much dead west all day Saturday. Crying out for a Pt Cook to Sandy run, after days and days of Westerlies there must be some swells out there.
Propose meeting at Sandy @ 11, it will be bloody cold, wetsuits and pfd's probably a good idea.
Reasonably serious run of almost 20k, make sure you are confident to slog it out, it's always quite confused in places on this run.

Hey DJ and JC, talking about awesome......

West to northwesterly 20 to 30 knots tending west to southwesterly 30 to 40 knots around midday then decreasing to 20 to 30 knots by early evening.

How about you revisit your roots and come out for a good 'ol fashion poleboard?
Ricketts from midday.

You never know, you may both find it fun!

Just a thought.

Just did the crossing with Jonathan today in 20 knots with maybe the odd 30 knot gust. Like Jonathan says, that is one hard slog. Waves got up to 2m today and with tomorrow's 40 knot prediction, that could easily become 4m. If anyone wants to go tomorrow, make sure you are well prepared. This is definitely not a novice or even intermediate paddle - 40 knots bay crossing = experts only. And make sure you have all the requisite safety gear. Be safe out there guys.

PS. I reckon I will chicken out.

Just wondering how difficult it is to avoid ships while crossing the shipping channel.

That would be my biggest worry on doing one of those things - especially when the swell and wind is too strong to paddle against.

We make sure we look left.. Then right.. and then back to the left again.. Then we go straight across while holding hands..

Actually there's a shipping traffic site that we check.. It is a concern and I've had a few scary moments out there over the years windsurfing sinkers and having the wind drop.. Jeez their horns are LOUD..
