Anyone on the breeze tried a Meyerhoffer yet?

The feedback seems positive.

It would be interesting to see if the shape could be used for SUP.

The narrow waist would make for an unstable platform I guess

You're a classic elbeau. That just looks so wrong and so fugly! Obviously designed by an expert.

I'd hate to be responsible for marketing it - reminds me of a silent lawnmower that once came on the market - who'ld buy it?

Don't be too quick to criticise, I remember the mocking I received for my Starboard 200 - "brought the dining room table then?" when I first took it out. But, wide early planers really took off in more ways than one!

This could the the holy grail of the "one board"

they surfed the myerhoffer at the noosa contest as a one design contest with good waves the best longboarders just couldnt get them going, there was a bottle board in the 90's that didnt take off because it was weird looking and this thing is weirder, the designer is a computer nerd.the thing is ugly and just dosnt work, first prize at noosa was a myerhoffer,i wonder was second prize was

watched over 20 different guys riding the meyerhoffer "the HOFF" board at noosa during the comp and not one of them had a totally negitive vibe about the board

although they were surfing out at ti tree in 3foot+ waves and none where really trying to ride the nose

i watched alot of mal riders cranking some very aggressive turns

it would have been a different story if they were all surfing first point

like the crew in the "one design" heats as good as first point was its a small gutless wave and favours a nose riding style (just my opinion)

i even came in after riding a few waves at first point and had to wax the nose of my 9'3 naish which has never been waxed 3 feet from the nose before

in this pic at first point im standing where i never had wax before

i didnt ride the HOFF myself but would like to have a go one day....maybe not.....

...lol...

on a funny note

the first time i saw the board

was a guy jumpping off the rocks at nationals

i paddled straight over to him and unloaded with "right!!! hand it over i've heard about this thing give us a look mate"

and as this guy started to talk about the board i've butted in with "the dude must have had some BAD ACID back in the 80's to think this thing up just looks like a jelly bean with the tail having been chewed on and spat out cause it tasted like cr@p"

after a few more wise cracks i left him and allrounder and i continued to paddle around to ti tree

when we finally got out of ear shot allrounder laughing said "man thats the guy that designed it"

i think im still laughing about it weeks later

thanks Matt for not pullin me up

before i unloaded on the poor guy...lol...oooppppsss!!!!

Dog man, it was way to funny, i really hav'nt seen a person put both his feet in his mouth.

While i was at noosa i had a crack on the board. It was great fun, and not a tricky to ride as i looks, you really just need to be opened minded to this and you will have a ball.

Also the design has been played with before but mayerhoffer has found the right mix. There is allot of movement working with designs like this, look at skis and snow boards.

The best part about this board it makes people think again, it what we need to move forward, not every design is going to work but what happens if some works out a way and reinvent the thruster. Its and exciting time.

Richard Cavanagh, Cavey, had a board shaped just like that in the 70's. He was a local Northy legend.

I am pretty sure I caught a glimpse of the final seconds of them talking about this on one of the morning shows this morning.

Not sure it would really work the same as a snowboard or set of skis, as they both use the flex of the board/ski to carve an arc. Take a look at a snowbard when you put in on its rail, them pus some force into it and you get a nice round shape for carving an arc. So while the theory may be similar I can't see how it would work the same way.

It actually looks really easy to ride and paddle, but that is the worst looking board I have ever seen Sort of think I would be to embarrased to paddle out at the local on a thing shaped off a blow up doll

Frank Latta shaped a similar design in the early 90's. He called it the "bottlenose". I had a 9'1" that went a treat.

so that was latta's shape,i saw one at noosa way back and they seemed to go well but were a normal longboard tail with a waisted front section wernt anywhere as weird as the tail and waist on this thing, could be an april fools joke, mark kelly got some press out of it,i wonder if they have gone into full asian production,i doubt it.

I had a mate of mine try to ride one at Grove (aka the kiddy pool of gutless fat surf). He took it out for 2 hrs and hardly caught a wave. Then took out the trusty Imperial and had a ball.

Oh and they are also a fashion statement they come in white off white and Ivory.

This one didnt woof though? I told him that it was broken!
