anyone had any success removing and not damaging their board? its say to use lacquer thinners but I'm guessing that might not be a great idea on a SUP

Lay a towel over your board and soak in turps (not thinners) , let it sit for a few hours and it just peels off. Make sure you don't have any cracks in the board it will eat the foam. Just keep rubbing the residue with clean rags soaked with turps and finish with wax and grease remover. Boom... make sure you have beer on board be patient

This works really great with deck grips not sure on monster traction , if it doesn't work first time round do it again and add black plastic over the towel and leave in the sun for a couple of hours or in the shade overnight.

thanks Piros, turps on for that long doesn't disturb the underlying paint/board colour?

I just added a bit more to up top but no turps is fine I've have done this heaps of times. Use caution if it's custom with polyester resin or some Chinese special , then be very careful. Maybe just try a small section first.

If that's case should have been glassed by DC or Deep so should be fine , but try a small section first.

It is doable, I have done it on small surfaces, but be prepared for the long haul. It doesn't come off as easily as the pad glue. I guess you will have to do it in small patches over many days, as not to lose your sanity.

Or you could just sand it it and re-polish. I was considering doing it on the front section of one of my SUP where I applyied a traction spray that yellowed after some time...
