All the shots are today. Waves have been similar most of the week. A swell is forcast tomorrow but may be a bit sloppy with an east wind......AND everyone is hanging out for it so you will have company 50+ (sunday remember)
Small increase in size this arvo...only 30 out.....lots of "bus" waves.

Those micros look like fun, watch out tomorrow, cause I'm going to be in the lineup snaking waves from those grumpy longboarders and sup riders who have gone to short with my brand new glide.

The glide is a semi trailer, compared to any of the suzuki's that I'll be up against, Any board in my path will end up looking like those poor jellyfish that got in my way today in St Kilda.

Hey Oliver, which Glide did you get? The 14'? I thought you were getting a custom 14' made.

Be careful running over stuff. Apparently jellyfish have heaps of dormant gonads that become active when the animal is threatened. Run one over and you get a hundred new ones.

Imagine running over short-boarders and grumpy old mal riders and having dozens of zombie surfers coming at you.

I went out this morning at Big Left for some micro waves on my new glide. It really was a lot of fun and got some really long fast rides. Luckily I had the glassy fat bumps to myself, I think I would have been in trouble had anyone else been out as I had a lot of trouble turning the board on the waves. Kind of reminded me of the Valiant Charger - goes great in a straight line. Will definately do that again next time it's small and glassy, maybe next time I'll try a smaller fin.

Sounds like fun Oliver. We didnt even have micro bumps here in Abay today. Looks like the swell is gonna jack up this week though if you want to slip out of the office one morning.........

Same to the rest of you Melbourne guys if you want to split a ride to the coast one morning.

Hi Ronnie,
New cam could be handy...Wayne might be able to keep an eye on his boat from the lounge!

yo oliver

as im a big fan of surfin the glide

you have to put a deck pad on the tail section of the board that feels different to the pad that is on it

so you know that when you have got your back foot far enough back and can feel you are on it you know you are in position to turn it

on my first glide i waxed that tail section

but on my new one i put some chunky grip on it just for the job

if you havent got your back foot back there the big bitch wont turn in a hurry

rock on

Dean, Abay doesnt always get the great waves in the back yard. It's pretty much like your neck of the woods as there are plenty of areas that will work on different winds/tides. There are heaps of creek/river mouths around that I would like to start surfing ---hence the new Gath!

I think the best swells for here are the Southwesters. I actually have a place on top of the hill here and the valley we live on goes straight to the beach. The hills here are pretty close to the beach, so often we are protected from the offshores at this end of town, but at the end of "our" valley we can often get a nice stiff offshore blowing.

We've had a fair bit of rain here this year (pretty typical as you know), so the banks have built up pretty good. Most people here line up for the breakwater/jetty and hope it breaks at low tide. It really is the longest ride in town when it is breaking, but I tend to go for the shorter rides with less crowds unless it's the only game in town.

I prefer to surf here at a changing high-tide with a bit of swell as it just gets a bit more juice to it (me feels anyway). Saying that, I paddled from the surf club out to Marengo yesterday and it was dead flat. I did see a ray that was as wide as my paddle which was the first I had seen here.......His barb looked like it was as thick as my forearm!

Yeah, I was just talking to a mate of mine yesterday about "the boat". It is certainly a sweet looking ride........I'd love to visit some of the breaks that thing has seen!

Also, there has been a bit of activity out this way in the SUP population. We are getting some serious rain here at the moment, but I have been here a fair bit over the past couple of weeks and there have been a few SUP's about. Judging by this, and the crew at PRK last week, I reckon the SUP population in Vicco will double or triple this summer.

Most likely headed out your way on Tue if the wind stays down...........
Cheers,
Ronnie
