I was hit by a short board on the weekend whilst SUPing - guy had no control over where he was going.

Never seems to get mentioned that it happens both ways.

too true, the only difference is the size and weight.

And reach - 9ft board 9ft leggie = 18ft

Goats are worse!! If they let go of the paddle they just bounce around all over the place, Ive been hit twice

plus the lenght of said sup pers body and the drag back factor = 28 ft

Surprises me that public liability hasn't raised it's ugly head around some of these incidents.Wonder how many surfers, sup, and every other water craft have insurance?I think if you are in a club it comes with membership, but for the rest of us, it's down to you.Unfortunately I think it's a matter of time before there are some claims,it happens in every other aspect of our lives unfortunately.

Insurance cover for club members is for only when involved in club activities. Not personal surfing. Just to be clear.

If you want full public liability insurance, then join SUP Vic. You will have 10 million cover while
paddling anywhere in Australia. You will even be covered in the beach carpark if you are going for
a paddle or returning. Not to mention personal accident insurance as well!

Hell, if you have a paypal account you can join right now!

I'll get to checkout the alley for myself in 2 weeks. Hopefully some of you breezers will be around to share some waves.
I only have a few days but hope to get waves every waking minute I'm there. From the alley down to maybe Cabarita.

Don't have a plan yet but I'll wait to see the forecast a few days out.

True - I use a 7ft leggie at Manly, that 2ft saving really helps (other people). Having said that, there are lots of mal riders with same length boards and leggies - so the difference is only weight.

Agree with you there Crash, cant say that Ive been hit with a mal recently tho. Any board is a hazard in the water and generally the one that gets you is your own
