Hey Guy's

I did the Doctor race recently and was impressed with some of the fandangled get up's some of you guy's have for listening to music, mostly you eastern staters and especially the ladies!

So what's the best way to get my tunes on for training?

I'm not interested in carrying my mobile and bluetoothing my music. I'm thinking maybe some sort of waterproof mp3 headphones/earplugs that store the music as well?

I'm convinced i'll be faster with my music on, just like jogging, I can't do it otherwise!!

Cheers
Dave

haha yep i have used my same setup for nearly 4 yrs now and its easy and simple.

I have a ipod with a heap of different playlists depending on what race it is.

Its i a pelican case sealed tight and i use the sony water proof headphones. The sony ones are a little more pricey at $90 US but i have had them fully under the water and no problem.

I would be devo'd if i lost my ipod cos its taken me yrs to get all my playlists right lol

I don't often use music on the SUP but when I do I use a waterproofed ipod shuffle and headphones from swimman.com.au, clipped to the band on the back of my hat/visor. The stock headphones aren't great, been thinking about getting the Sony or maybe some Audiobones (now that they have a waterproof version).

Too true, it's like when I'm jogging and the sound of my heavy breathing makes me feel like I'm more tired and I give up quicker. I'm not sure if I'd listen to music when ocean training/racing as there's too many variables and some one made need to shout out to you. But I'm looking into this for flatwater/river training to mask the long hard slog.

Some good solutions on here already, I'm really interested in headphones that store music rather than the ipod solution as I can't be bothered with wires from the unit to the ears.

These ones look like the business mate. Had a quick search on the net and these look like they'll be just right.

Are you happy with them? Also can I just load my songs from my iTunes?

Cheers

I have yet to use this for SUP but I have one that I use for swimming laps. They work great and I found the earbuds you get in the package (if you spring for the package deal) are completely waterproof and produce quality sound. Being the smallest iPod, it is extremely light and has a built in clip. I use mine whenever I swim as it breaks the monotony of lap swimming.

I have the speedo ones (aquabeat), great as they clip on bands that you put behind your ears to keep the sunglasses in place, or your hat

For the music, try to get songs on the same BPM (beats per minute), and choose a bpm that matches the rythm of your paddling. You can find a lot of "workout compilations" set at a given BPM. For instance, search "BPM" on amazon in the category "Music"

very happy with them. easy to downloand any digital music on, they come with a 'harness/usb'...just plug into PC and orf ya go.

loads of places say sold out here in Australia, truth is most of them never got them in stock in first place, think Harvey Norman for example. Got mine sent from UK....other places you can get them online to... very snug fit with 3 sets of ear pods to choose from.
