The Napali Coast on Kauai's North Shore in Hawaii is known for its sheer beauty, rugged coastline, white beaches, turquoise waters, tall 4000ft vertical cliffs, deep caves, endless waterfalls, long tunnels, green sea turtles, dolphins and endless beauty. Much of the Napali Coast is inaccessible due to its characteristic sheer cliffs that drop straight down, thousands of feet into the ocean.

On the 2nd July 2011 myself and a great friend from Kauai paddled the 17mile/27km stretch on Stand Up Paddleboards. I was so grateful to have had this amazing opportunity.

A day I'll never forget. Hope you enjoy it...Sue

Looks beautiful there Sue, Kauai will definitely be on the agenda for next year.
There's a race along that coastline the weekend after Molokai (if only i didn't have to come back home) but I'd also like to paddle it outside a race to be able to enjoy the awesome environment there.

Thanks DJ. Danos was great in dropping us off in the morning and then he had the 2.5 hr drive around the whole island that afternoon to get to the finish point. As the Napali is inaccessible to cars and there are no roads along it. He had to circumnavigate the entire island of Kauai. What a good bloke !!

@Ali...yes there is a race along this coastline next month. This will be the 2nd year for it. It will be another one that will get bigger and bigger like the Maui to Molokai and Naish that have received alot of exposure over the last few years. I'm sure in the next few years many Aussies will venture over for this race. And I do agree with you...it is so cool to do it out of a race setting. It was the most amazing landscape I have ever seen. Shame to miss it cause you're charging past to win a medal. Would be an interesting race though as the backwash off the cliffs in unbelievable as you would appreciate. I'd be staying out alot wider than we did.

@Mac...the cave was so cool and there were so many more of them. We only went through this one which was a U shape. We went in a lot further than I showed. I turned the camera off thinking it would be too dark as it was pitch black. The back wash was unbelievable in the cave and for about 150 metres from the cliffs coming into and away from it. Believe it or not..20 to 30ft powerboats drive through these caves with tourists. And they fly through so not as to get effected by the backwash. I did it over 15 yrs ago in a boat and that was scarey !! Very skilled drivers.

Awesome coastline through there! Beautiful beaches on both ends. But such a contrast over such a short distance.

Google Maps - Point A to Point B, but the short way via The Sea....
