I saw the specs on all the new Naish boards.. IMHO I think Naish just guesstimates the ltrs on there boards.. For one I don't believe the 10 mana is 210 ltrs.. and if you compare the 010 9'3 to the 011 9'0 the specs are different but the ltrs are the same ??

8'0" Hokua.. 26 1/8" x 3 3/4" @ 95L.

8'5" Hokua.. 28" x 3 3/4" @ 115L.

9'0" Hokua.. 28 3/4" x 3 3/4" @ 125L.

I'm keen to try the new 9'0" Hokua..

BTW.. Hokua is Hawaiian for crest or lip of the wave.. I knew you wanted to know that..

2010 9'3" x 29 1/2 x 4 1/4 = 125L
2011 9'0" x 28 3/4 x 3 3/4 = 125L

I Don't know how this works.. The dimensions are obviously much smaller and as far as i understand Litres = water displacement so weight should have no effect on it.. so how do they figure this one out ??
Its not just Naish. Many brands are out of whack IMO the PSH 9'6 varies from 136-150L depending on the website you look at..
I point this out because a few months ago when i was first looking at buying a board one of the main deciding factors was the litres.. Now i realise it really means nothing at all..
Three boards i have ridden recently Is a SB Element 9'8 = 150L a 10'6 Naish = 150L and a PSH 9'6 = 150L.. All boards are very very different as far as stability, yaw and glide..
So anyone looking at new boards. its probably best to take the Ltrs with a pinch of salt or if you are going to compare Just keep it within the brands and probably the year of manufacture as Naish has proved..
Ps.. Nice boards though

DJ, from what i know you have only been surfing the mana 10 ??

Being i think 90kg do you think you will be ok on the 9'0 it seems a big drop in board and stability

Just asking as im looking in the same boat

The new Naish boards are yellow and white (white rails at the front).. and the yellow is a slightly more pale 'custard' yellow.

I have a 9' board that Dean Snow made me that I love (it's about 31" wide).. That's why I went for the 10' Mana and not the 9'0" or the 9'5".

I think I will find the new 9'0" Hokua a bit tippy (for me) but I'm still very keen to try it.

There must be a typo on those thicknesses. 4 3/4 thick sounds about right.

No, its not ruled out, But the construction on the naish boards is great. So with out seeing a used subv i cant compare the construction and nor willing to buy a new one to test it.

Hopefully not what us kiwis would call "karitane yellow" we would hope

....."It's also called Karitane yellow in NZ because karitane nurses were a kind of nursery nurse, and the colour is rather like the colour of breast-fed baby's poo. So now you know!"

`think they referring more to the colour of the baby poo (sort of a mustardy naish yellow) rather than the colour of the breasts

The Element is definitely more stable. but it also feels like a much bigger board.. both really nice boards.. you cant go wrong with either.
